The writing is hard to read but it looks like 300 pounds were bequeathed to William Dyer and 400 hundred pounds to ? Robara Dyer. Robert's second wife was Sarah Dyer, a widow, who died in 1802, a year after marriage. It is conjectured that the Dyers who received Robert Lancashire's bequests were descended from, or connected closely with the previous marriage and perhaps entitled to money from their mother's dower. Insufficient records have been found to account for the payment. |
