He later committed suicide after failing yet again to obtain work. Before dying he admitted to ingesting strychnine and left a letter for his wife. John Holdsworth confirmed at inquest that the strychnine had been bought from him. — June 20, 1880

Fact: Travelled to England on the "Ormuz" with wife and her 2 sons. They enrolled in Oxford University. Lady Tichbourne was also a passenger. While she was unconnected with the Holdsworth's she said she was the mother Tichbourne claimant. The identity of the Tichbourne heir was a major mystery which has never been resolved. — November 1897
